The China Gambit
A father's vengeance should never be overlooked. "The China Gambit" is a novel from Allan Topol as he presents a story of Craig Page, an ex-CIA agent looking for who was responsible for his journalist daughters death as she was chasing a major story. Working with her daughter's old boss, he finds layers of conspiracy of rogue generals and terror looking to put the entire world on edge. "The China Gambit" is a choice pick for those who love high end military plots, very much recommended.

China Gambit by Allan Topol
Genre: Adult fiction
"National bestselling author Allan Topol returns with a thrilling new trilogy of international intrigue. THE CHINA GAMBIT (Vantage Point; $14.95; January 2012) introduces Craig Page, a daring and resourceful former CIA agent, now fighting terrorism in Europe after being unceremoniously fired from the agency. After his daughter Francesca -- a New York City reporter investigating the biggest story of her young career -- dies in an "automobile accident," Craig is instinctively convinced that she was murdered and sets out to find answers... and vengeance.
Joined by Francesca's editor, the gutsy and equally resourceful Elizabeth Crowder, Craig soon begins to peel back the conspiracy layer by layer, eventually learning that Francesca was just collateral in a much larger ultimate target: The United States. "
MATT'S Thoughts-
Craig Page, a former CIA agent, sets out to uncover his daughter Francesca's killer, who was on the biggest story of her reporting career. Craig teams up with Elizabeth Crowder, Francesca's editor. The unlikely duo, on a mission to solve a murder, comes across a conspiracy leading from China through to a CIA director; taking Craig and Elizabeth all over the world to find answers. As the story unfolds you realize that this is more than finding Craig's daughter's killer, as this conspiracy could change the world. You see the fate of the world lying in the hands of Craig, and in a state of wonderment, you begin to ask yourself "can he really save the world?"
The China Gambit is a great read! Allan Topol is an amazing writer, very articulate, giving a story that is detailed and easy to follow, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was in a state of suspense, and not wanting to put the book down, always wanting to know what happened next. If it is suspense and a thriller novel that you seek, then look no further, this is the book for you. I am waiting in anticipation for Allan Topol's next book The Spanish Revenge.

China Gambit by Allan Topol
Genre: Adult fiction
Book Description:
In Canada, Francesca, a young American reporter, is brutally murdered to
stop her from publishing an explosive story. She has learned that
Chinese General Zhou has orchestrated a conspiracy with Iran to stop the
flow of imported oil to the United States. General Zhou's goal: To
leapfrog China over the United States for world economic and military
supremacy. And the ruthless General will do anything to accomplish that
goal.
Craig Page--a daring and resourceful former CIA agent, now fighting
terrorism in Europe--is determined to find out who killed his daughter,
Francesca. Joined by the gutsy Elizabeth Crowder, Francesca's editor,
Craig peels back the conspiracy layer by layer, ultimately learning that
General Zhou has a partner in the scheming CIA director, Kirby, who
forced Craig out of the Agency.
The action moves from Canada to Tehran, Beijing and Washington, and
finally to Aspen, with Craig and Elizabeth narrowly escaping repeated
attacks in their attempt to prevent a catastrophe for the United States.
It's exciting and exceedingly timely, with attention focused now on
China's growing strength and power in the world. At the same time, Craig
must bury his personal loss, as he confronts his adversaries trying to
kill him.
Review:
This is the first of a new series and I look forward to more from Allan
Topol. If you like spy thrillers and lots of action, then you'll love
this novel.
If you're a lover of John LeCarre and the Bourne books you'll find lots
to enjoy in this book.
Craig and Elizabeth team up to discover you killed his daughter and the
journey takes them to Canada and China and along the way they start to
be attracted to each other. The political intrigue is like something
that could happen in today's political climate.
I highly recommend this book to any who loves action, political intrigue
and spy novels.
Happy Reading!

The China Gambit: A Craig Page Thriller
The China Gambit introduces Craig Page, a daring and resourceful former CIA agent in the first book of a trilogy.
When his daughter, Francesca - a New York City reporter - dies in an "automobile accident," Craig smells a conspiracy and wants vengeance.
Joined by Francesca's editor, Elizabeth Crowder, they begin to peel back the conspiracy layer by layer finding out that much more is at stake than his daughter's death. The United States is a target.
Oil, money, weapons, and greed are all on the table, but only one side can win. Craig and Elizabeth have to stay one step ahead of those that don't want their treachery to come to light. They travel around the world to fit the puzzle together. They must find proof of the plan and discover who is behind it. Is it the governments or just a few rogue people?
This story is fast-paced and brings you in right from the beginning. The action starts on the first page and doesn't stop until the last page. You get to know the characters and their motivation. There are so many twists and turns that you will not know until the very end who is behind the conspiracy. There are shootouts, car chases, kidnappings, secret meetings and so much more. The story has a satisfying ending yet sets the next book up perfectly. I will be waiting for the next installment in the trilogy.
